Sultan Qa’itbay Drinking Trough for Animals

The Trough is located on Al-Azhari lane behind the most famous fatimid mosque of Al – Azhar.

The trough was founded in 882 A.H./1477 A.D. by As Sultan Al-Malik Al-Ashraf Abul-Nasr Qa’itbay.

The building consists of a rectangular compartment about 8.75 X 5.35 m. and a height of 7.45 m., a small attached square space of 0.8 X 0.8 m and 1.2 m higher than the major space and beneath this space lies the cistern
